THE COLOR OF PENCILS.

Being solid, it is impossible to mix the color of two pencils to get a new color before using it. All color mixing with colored pencils must be made on paper.Increasing the pressure will tract of more vibrant colors and lights, will instead of decreasing it soft colours.

This is a good way to make a darker color without resorting to black that very often creates a sense of dirt. The shade two colors, one on top of the other, is a good way to make the mixture gradually. By varying the pressure on one or both of them will change the resulting color. Stroking different colors in the same direction, by varying both the length and the number of lines by increasing the distance between them and the pressure you can get quite good results.

Another effective technique to mix colors is the cross hatches putting a color on the other. To get different effects and colors try to vary the distance between the lines and the pressure on the pencil. You can mix colors even putting one near other points or dashes.

Although this technique requires a longer time to get a good result has a very pleasant effect. Do not forget that there is also a white pencil, this combined with other colors creates a ' soft ' effect ideal for blending ... at the expense of brilliance though. If you use watercolor pencils, you can blend well the colors while bathing with a thin layer of water.

Colored pencils also have the advantage of being able to be combined with other techniques, for example you can use above the colorful designs with tempera to create special effects.
